Fortunately, he called me before I had heard on the news about the luxury hotel bombings in Jakarta. Otherwise I would have been freaking out.
He wasn't staying in either hotel, but was staying in that neighborhood (upscale business district). He said he was far enough that he didn't hear the exposions, but close enough he could see the smoke and stuff.
Thank God he's safe.
It's amazing how we take our security here for granted. And it's amazing that these things don't happen here often.
Huge thanks to everyone who is keeping our country safe. Not taking that for granted any more.

I remember how a friend of our's described how she watched the second airplane hit the twin towers in New York. She was overwhelmed with fear...we all were.
We are so fortunate to live on a continent where we don't have to live our lives around terrorism. We are SO lucky.
I hope your father has a safe and good visit, and arrives home soon!
How scary!!! I'm so glad he is ok!!
Scary. I'm glad he's safe.
Thank goodness he is safe! After 9/11, I don't ever want to relive that again!
I find that I'm not very patriotic, but am often reminded of the luxury of safety, clean water and housing we have in America. Life may be hard in some ways, but it's nothing like what people in other nations have to deal with.
I'm so glad he's safe. We live in a scary world!
That's just insane! So glad that he's ok!!
{{hugs}}
As a political science prof. I'm watching what's happening and am so glad that your father is safe. I know you think that living in America means these things don't happen here but they do. We are fortunate to live in one of the safest countries in the world but we too are vulnerable to such attacks. That bomb was transported in a cell phone. Times are changing and we just need to be thankful for each day ~ terrorism or not.
So glad your FIL was safe!
